Over the past few months, there has been a lot of controversy going on over the new halo Aston Martin vehicle, the DBS. The one featured in Casino Royale was just a DB9 with Mansory body kits. But is that what the new DBS is? Is it just a DB9 with a body kit or is it a completely different car. The engines in both cars are the same, albeit different power levels. But the DBS sports a new, redesigned centre console, which confuses me. A poxy new ECU. That's a acronym for a crappy key substitute which is not as good as a regular key. Which costs 20 grand to replace if you lose one. But here's the good stuff. New Bilstein shock absorbers which give the car a better ride quality. New 398mm carbon ceramic brakes. A new lightweight Aluminum/Carbon Fiber body shell. Better steering. And finally a new Limited Slip Differential. Is all this stuff worth a 50 thousand pound premium over a regular DB9 Sportspack. And is it faster than the old Vanq S? No. But all these things make it a totally different car. But if it was me buying one, I'll just save money and buy a regular DB9.
